Dimetacrine is one of the TCAs that hasn’t had as much testing as other dibenzazepines. It’s most popular use has been in Europe and was also sold in Japan as under drug names Acripramine and Dimethacrine. Like most TCAs it’s primary use is for treatment against depression and has been known to cause weight loss as a side effect, which may not be so negative for some!
One of the issues known to be caused by Dimetacrine is related to liver disease, but there have been debates about this and it is advised you take Milk Thistle along with it so you minimize the chances of seriously hurting your liver.
With the variety of tricyclic antidepressants out there today, Dimetacrine has been made redundant in most cases, the effects are similar to Imipramine but less potent.
You can find Dimetacrine under brand names Miroistonil, Istonil and Listonil. There have been variations of these names as well depending on the country but these are the main three.
