Quinupramine

Like many of the tricyclic antidepressants listed on this website, Quinupramine was introduced first in Europe in hope it would assist in the treatment of depression. A study comprising of rats and mice showed the effects of Quinupramine being similar to those of Amitriptyline, Imipramine and Desipramine only it has a weaker anti-muricide (less deaths in rats) and much stronger central anticholingeric (neurotransmitter acetylcholine blocker) effect.

Quinupramine is also used for sleeping disorders associated with depression in some cases and is recommended to have one dose at bedtime.

It can be found under the brand names Adeprim, Kevopril and Quinuprine.
